Sheikh Zayed Book Award Announces Longlist in Translation Category

Abu Dhabi 28/11/2016- The Sheikh Zayed Book Award (SZBA) announced today its long list for the Translation category, consisting of 8 titles out of 86 nominations received. These nominations came mostly from Egypt, Tunisia, Morocco, and France. The Longlist for translation includes; Title Language Translator Nationality Publishing 1 ‘Justice, Punishment and the Medieval Muslim Imagination’ authored by Christian Lange English to Arabic Riadh Miladi Tunisian Dar Al Madar Al Islami, Lebanon 2016 2 ‘Philosophy in the Flesh, the Embodied Mind and its Challenge to Western Thought’ authored by George Lakoff and Mark Johnson English to Arabic Abdelmajid Jahfa Moroccan Dar al Kitab Al Jadeed, Lebanon 2016 3 ‘Constantinople, City of the World’s Desire, 1453-1924’ authored by Philip Mansel English to Arabic Mostafa Kassem Egyptian The National Council for Culture, Arts, and Letters, Kuwait 2015 4 ‘The First World in The Middle East’ authored by Kristian Coates Ulrichsen English to Arabic Tareq Alayyan Egyptian Jarrous Press 2015 5 ‘Economy and Society’ authored by Max Weber German to Arabic Turki Mohamed Tunisian Arab Organization for Translation, Lebanon 2015 6 ‘S/Z’ authored by Roland Barthes French to Arabic Mouhammed Al Boukri Moroccan Dar al Kitab Al Jadeed, Lebanon 2016 7 ‘ Le Métaphore Vive’ authored by Paul Ricoeur French to Arabic Mohamed El Ouali Moroccan Dar al Kitab Al Jadeed, Lebanon 2016 8 ‘Averroés: Le Philosophe Et La Loi’ Ibn Rushd Arabic to French Ziad Bou Akel France/ Lebanon De Gruyter, Berlin 2015 The award has announced its longlist in two categories so far;’ Arts and Literary Criticism’ and ‘Best Contribution to the Development of Nations’.
