Sheikh Zayed Book Award Advisory Council chooses new judges for its fifth session

The Sheikh Zayed Book Award Advisory Council met on Tuesday, April 27th 2010, to choose the judging committees, which will assess the Award’s nominations for its fifth session 2010/2011. The Advisory Council meeting was attended by Dr. Ali Rashed Al Noaimi, Mohammed Al Murr of the United Arab Emirates, Dr. Abdallh Al Gathami from Saudi Arabia, Dr. Radwan Al Sayed from Lebanon, Dr. Salah Fadl from Egypt, Dr. Mohammed Kafoud from Qatar, and Dr. Abdulsalam Msedi from Tunisia, in addition to Mr. Rashed Al Oraimi the Award’s Secretary-General. The meeting reviewed activities of the award during the next phase ; including participation in international book fairs, and the awards participation in cultural seminars in both Cape Town, Syria and India, in addition to holding a lecture at Oxford University Centre for Middle Eastern Studies, with the participation of a number of Award winners, in May. The Advisory Council also reviewed the results achieved by the Award through promoting its goals in the most important International cultural quarters. It discussed the names proposed by its members for the judging committee of the fifth session of the Award’s various branches. Suggested names include a number of prominent intellectuals, and professionals in the field of Arab culture. Mr. Rashed Al Oraimi the Award’s Secretary-General stressed that the Award’s nomination phase continues until mid-August 2010, and that winners names will be announced starting February 2011.
