Sheikh Zayed Book Award Discusses Impact of Literary Awards on World Book Industry

The Sheikh Zayed Book Award organized a literary seminar on Saturday 15th October joining Libyan-born author Ibrahim al-Kouni (Winner of Sheikh Zayed Book Award for literature in 2008) and Nasser al-Dhaheri, author and editor from the United Arab Emirates, chaired by German translator Hartmut Faehndrich, who has been translating Arab literature for decades. The seminar tackled many issues pertaining to what impact do literary prizes have on an international level and how do they facilitate the promotion of the books of the award winning authors and publishers abroad. The seminar was attended by the Khaled bin Ghalaita, UAE embassy in Bonne, and publishers and writers from the bookfair.
