About The Publishing House

Al Jadeed Publishing was founded in Beirut in 2000 with a unique focus on long-forgotten topics in Arab publishing. The company was founded by late Lebanese writer and translator Lokman Slim and Rasha al Ameer as a strictly cultural project that pursues genuine skills and talents looking to be discovered and published in isolation from ideological considerations and partisanship. Bearing in mind the importance of science books to knowledge and the progress of a society, as well as the cultivation of rational, mythology-free knowledge.

Al Jadeed has since its foundation focused on linguistic and intellectual studies, and has thus republished the work of Abdullah al Alayli, such as 'Muujam', 'An Introduction to the Language of Arabs', 'Scenes from a Prophecy', 'Where's the Error?' and other works. Taha Hussein's 'On Jahili Poetry' was similarly published under the 'Carbon Copy' initiative that ensures books will be reprinted in the original format and layout of 'Dar al Kutub al Misriyya in Cairo in 1929. The first published work was Al Hussein bin Mansour's poetry collection Al Hallaj.

Al Jadeed has also published a number of poetry collections and anthologies for prominent contemporary Arab poets, including Mahmoud Darweesh's Ahad 'Ashara Kawkaban and Ara ma Ureed, and Ounsi el Hajj's Lann, Al Ra's Al Maqtou', Al Rasoola Bisha'reha al Taweel Hatta al Yanabee', Matha Sana't bil Thahab//Matha Fa'alt bil Warda? and Madhi Al Ayyam Al Aatiya. Adonis's Qalat el Ard, Sameeh Qaasim's Al Kutub Al Sab'a, as well as several poetry collections by Mohammed Ali Shamseddine, Wadea Saadeh, Abbas Beydou, Shabib el Amin, Saleem Barakat, Eissa Makhlouf, Paul Sha'oul, Bassam Hajjar, Salah Steitiyye, and many others were published.
