The Sheikh Zayed Book Award at Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Center, part of Department of Culture and Tourism - Abu Dhabi, in collaboration with LoveReading LitFest, held a virtual discussion that hosted Hessa Al Mehairi, Children’s Literature winner, and Lynn Gaspard, the publisher of Saqi Books, and moderated by Emma House, International publishing consultant and former Deputy CEO of the UK Publishers Association.
The discussion highlighted the importance of bringing works of translation to the attention of new readers, the influence of Arabic literature in the UK market, and how winning prestigious literary prizes can enhance your career.

Hessa Al Muhairi
Hessa Al Muhairi holds a bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education and a Double Master of Science in Education Management and Policy from Deakin University Australia; she has been working as a nursery teacher since her graduation. Al Muhairi participated in a lot of Children’s Literature Workshops and managed a number of training programs. She has two published books for children; ”Whose Footprints are These?; and “The Dinoraf”.
