Sheikh Zayed Book Award Second Shortlist Translation and Young Authors

Following its first shortlist announcements end of last month, The Sheikh Zayed Book Award announced today, February 2nd, the shortlisted candidates in “Translation” and “Young Author”, counting a total of seven titles selected by the Award’s Scientific Committee against stringent criteria and rigorous review of the judges panel reports.

Four books have been short-listed under “Translation” including “A Prelude to Phenomenology and Phenomenological Philosophy” (translated from of the work of Edmund Husserl in German) by Abu Yarub Al Marzouki from Tunisia; “A Life Without Don Quixote and Sancho” (translated from of the work of Miguel De Unamuno in Spanish) by Saleh Almani from Syria; “Linguistics and the Sub-conscious” (translated from of the work of Michel Arrivé in French) by Mohammed Alboukai from Syria; and “Gems of the Senses” (translated from the work of Abu Abbas at-Tijani in Arabic) by Ravane Mbaye from Senegal.

Meanwhile, three books were named under the “Young Author” category, including two studies; “Al Fakka in Islam” by Layla Al Obaidali from Tunisia and “Cryptography in Ancient Egypt” by Nagwa Metwally from Egypt, in addition to one novel entitled “Ladies of the Moon” by Jokha Al Harthi from Oman.

While the shortlist entries will continue over the coming few weeks, the full list of winners is scheduled for announcement in February 2012, and the Award’s Presentation Ceremony, celebrating the winning achievements, will be held at Abu Dhabi National Exhibitions on 29th March next year.
